Anybody know where to get quality Live Rock locally?

On Christmas day I will be getting some money to buy live rock.
I don't have enough $ to order rock online, so I was wondering if anyone knows of a LFS with good rock with lots of purple coraline algae?
Every store I go to has rock, but none have any decent coraline coverage.
So I quess I will be running all over the metroplex handselecting the best rock I can find for my 24g Aquapod reef. If you know of a good store let me know where. I need some smaller pieces because my tank is a nano. If someone happened to have some extra rock here and there that isn't too big, I would be happy to pay a fair price, for coraline covered rock.

Aquatic Trading has good live rock at a quality price. It's covered in coraline algae and other things too.

i would wait and buy it from the forums usually can get it for around 4 dollars a lb while lfs charge at least double that. Plus you get to know some people in the club

Pet-O-Rama in Bedford got in 11 boxes of Walt Smth for their weekend sale, The new store in North Dallas opens Friday I think so bet they get some in also.

Hopefully they will chime in here, but the last time I drove by the North Dallas Pet-O-Rama (last week) location it didn't look like it was even remotely possible it will be open by the end of the year

I too would recommend waiting and finding cured rock from an established tank for half that of an LFS!

ya all the lfs around dallas have decent LR.. but the cheapest you can get it is 5 dollars a lb after like 20 lbs or something

but like everyone else said the best thing to do is find someone on the forums here and you can get it for 3 or 4 dollars a lb... thats what i did and i got some really nice established LR!

hth

key word is established too....lfs they are in the business to get it in and out as fst as they can while someone on the forum might have had liverock for a year or so. So you know it has no unwated critters and has the beneficial pods and bacteria already

If rock is going in a new tank, I always try and get new fresh rock, so I get the best diversity I can. If going for rock for a established tank, I would defiantly get rock from established tanks.
