Any network masters around?

I am trying to set up my net module for my reefkeeper and im having trouble with bridging my old laptop that i have set up for fish tank duty. If there is anyone who know networking i will gladly pay with cash or frags for help setting up my system, thanks alot

Well i have a few options. I have a laptop that i can use to run my reefkeeper and reef as well as an old linksys wireless router. I have my net module plugged into my laptop and i bridged the network. The net module shows up on the module summary in my reef 2.0 but does not show up as plugged into the SID. Under the update tab the net is greyed out and i cant update it. ive got the blue status light on the module itself but not the amber. I am going through the support forums now but there are 17 pages worth just for the net module. Any ideas?

Let me do some reading on the reefkeeper, but for now I would advise you to eliminate the bridge from your laptop. Since I don't know how old your laptop is I have to presume your not using a crossover cable and your ethernet port my not function with out one. To eliminate this issue I would say use the router. It should have some switch ports on the back where you can plug in the network cables and then the router will give you IP addresses that communicate with each other.

As i read that looks like the easiest option. I was just trying to eliminate one more thing plugged in if i could. It looks like ill have to put DDWRT firmware on my linksys wrt54gs. Have you done this before? If i plug my linksys into my verizon router will it show up on the network? Thanks for your help

Do you have a Verizon router or modem? Just asking because you didn't mention it earlier.

If it's a router use it instead of the linksys.

I have the standard verizon fios wireless router but my tank is too far away for a hardline from the router which is in the livingroom. I have a spare linksys that i can use to make this work as well as my laptop running vista premium which i can dedicate to the tank. There are no clear instructions for the full setup so im having to google all the steps to try and get this up and running.... I have a meeting at 1:00 but maybe i can call you later this afternoon if you have some spare time and i can give you more details.

If you have a wireless router already I think adding a wireless game adapter to the netmodule on the RK would probably be best. That way you could eliminate the extra router and utilitze you current wireless network. The game adapters can be found at Best Buy, Fry's, Wal-Mart, and other computer stores.

Here is the one that I am using but only paid about $50 bucks several years ago at Best Buy. I noticed that had some used ones for $40. Amazon

It is easy to setup and I am also using Fios wireless router.

Ok, i finally got it up and working through my laptop. The problem was i had to have a cross over cable instead of a regular ethernet cable. Fry has them for 5 bucks. Ive got the easy part done now i just have to set up an rss, signature, and iphone app lol. Thanks everyone for all the help, im sure ill be asking more questions about this project.
