Another Fuge question!

I bought a new fuge and have a mangrove in about 6 "deep sand. Is it safe to transfer the mangrove and sand to the naked bare fuge or will some bacteria kill my tank.

I think it would be... if you are concerned about it, just rinse the root section off in tank water a bit before putting it into the new location.

Ohh thought you mean moving just the mangroves....

My policy is to toss old sand... and start with new. Others have had success reusing after rinsing. I just prefer not to risk it, especially if its a mature sand bed.

oops

i messed up....I took two big handfulls and barley rinsed it out with old water....Just enough to kinda plant the mangrove.

My display is 150 gallon.

I'm worried.

Wide awake and worried......Will about 2 cuos of a DSB in my fuge affect a 150 gallon aquarium? Is it a oxygen issue or a disease issue or what?

What would be the first signs of trouble? Does it take awhile or is gonna slam my tank slowly?

Any input would be very helpful.

Couple of handfuls shouldn't be a problem.... if it was a couple of pounds that could cause an issue. Signs... it would be clouding, fish heavy breathing, corals sliming up that kind of thing.

Thanks man...I'm keeping the lights off, and looking with my green light. everything looks ok......I can't go to bed until all is right. Water is still cloudy from the sand being put in tank.

Xenia still pulsing, no sliming on my corals and clowns are in their anenomes sleeping.

Thanks again,

Shane
