Another beginner question

I started my tank with dry rock and some live rock... It's been 8 or 9 days now.

The last few days the live rock has been turning a tinge of orange. Is that normal? Coralline algae?

Or is it something bad going on?!

Most likely diatoms which is a type of algae and the result of your tank cycling ;) Most likely nothing to worry about.

well...I went to LFS, and they seemed to think it was cyanobacteria. They said my snail wouldn't eat it, and they sold me chemi-pure.

I decided to test the snail out on my own...put the snail on the rock, and he's been eating non stop since. But it's too much for him to keep up...so I used the chemi-pure. 24 hours, and still no real change. After 48 hours I'm supposed to do a water change and start my carbon/gfo reactor back up....

so im guessing it's not cyanobacteria, as this chemi-pure doesn't seem to be helping.

would a turbo snail eat cyano? what about diatoms?
