Anemone turned inside out

When I bought my 75g on sunday, I asked the owner why he hadn't put much livestock in it. There was one clownfish, a mated pair of blue/yellowtailed damsels and a pistol shrimp (lawnmower blenny and cucumber sold earlier).

He said he had one anemone and we had to search for it (sorry i never took pictures). It was a pink tip Haitian, but literally the size of a pencil eraser. He said the base was the size of his fist when he bought it but it just kept shrinking. He said his other anemones did the same and that "Condis only live a few months anyway that's why they're so cheap".

I asked how he fed it and he didn't have an answer (almost like "you feed anemones?")

There was a large bubble coming out of it's mouth. The owner said it had been there a few weeks. When we got it home we watched it closely in a little container and it flipped inside out. It's little squiggly guts were sticking out the mouth side as if it were a foot, and it's foot was so far in its little body that you could no longer see it.

He didn't make it. He must have starved to death. I doubt a baby brine shrimp would have even fit in his little body, his arms couldn't have reached his mouth if he tried.

So sad.

(btw i love the tank and he's a great guy that loved his fishies)
