Why does a moth go to a flame? I am sure that neither the moth, or the nem are trying to destroy themselves, but both seem to be common occurrences.
There are no power heads in the ocean, so we have to fix it to where they cannot get tangled in any power heads! I found that even foam around the intakes of Seio pumps can still, sometimes, allow a few tentacles to get sucked in to the intake, but at least the whole anemone did not make it past. That plastic grid stuff that I got at Hobby Lobby allows anemones to suck right through it as if they were jello, so that is no good! After going through what you are going through, I finally set up a tank just for anemones, and there are no power heads in that tank for them to get tangled up in. I started with 4 clones, and now have 15, and I do not have to be worried about them getting ground up in a power head.
I think that some have had success by building a tall island just for the anemones, hoping that they will not crawl down to the sand, and then climb the glass to a power head. Most of mine seem to like being at the top of the structure near the light.
