And so it begins..

I got the new tank.. it is 32x20x22... here is an inital (poor quality) iphone picture. I hope to fully document the transition from Biocube 29 over to the new tank. I washed sand last night, I plan on plumbing tonight and will work on mounting the Vortech and doing other misc. things on Thur.

The changover will occur on Friday with me constantly testing over the weekend. I should not have a cycle as I am not using my old sand, I have 10 gallons of water from the old tank and am using my existing aquascape from the old tank.

Wish me luck.. more pictures to come as the action occurs.

Good luck, sounds like you'll have fun with your new system.

I Started about 12:00 p.m. on Friday... I did not sleep Friday night... The move went smoothly; a few zoanthids were the only casualty. I do not expect a cycle but have been testing every few hours just in case. My Pink and Blue spotted watchman goby has jumped twice and both times I was there (I will try and re-home him shortly as he does not need to die just because I do not want to make a screen top).

Let me know what you think... this picture was just taken... There is still some micro-sediment in the water column...

Just a bit of an update and a few pics..

Klaus (the Goby) has not attempted seppuku again… I'm glad that I get to keep him as he was my first fish! Corals are getting used to the new ebb and flow of the tank. I did indeed go through a mini cycle which lasted 3 days. All levels are back to normal - nitrates are better than they ever were in the BioCube. I hung the light from the ceiling.

One of the main issues I have encountered is that my skimmer (Bubble Magus NAC6) does nothing but wet overflow. I have changed 30 gallons of water but, it still overflows like mad. I don't think the half dose BioSpira I added on 05/07 would still be affecting the skimmer.

The first pic is with just the 3 watt LEDs going (blue and white w/ 4 violet) when the light was mounted the second picture is a webcam capture that shows just how bright the light is with the 2 30 watt LEDs on hanging about 7" over head.

I know it's not a great pic (as I snapped it from my webcam) but, I wanted to share my newest inhabitant... a Sailfin Tang. He is small and healthy and eats every meal like it is his last. It is so nice to have a fish that will actually graze on the seaweed that I put in the tank.

I just thought I would post a FTS... seeing this makes me realize just how much I need more coral [smilie=wink.gif] Not to sound like a spokesperson or anything but... The Two Little Fishies Veggiemag is a welcome addition to my tank!
