[Hi all,

I found this little shroom detached amoungst live rock rubble when I was aquascaping my new tank. I wanted to try and get it to reattach to a rock so it might have a chance to survive. It seems like this technique of tying some thread around it would actually maybe cause it to split instead of attach to the rock. I was just wondering if anyone though I was doing more harm than good trying to save this little beauty.

[Ryan,
To answer your question you could take some super glue put a dot on the back of it and glue it where you want. Make sure you turn off the power heads for awhile. Use a gel super glue, so it is not runny.
But you just told me that you were wanting a mostly sps tank. If thats true I would not put a mushroom in my tank. He seems like a fairly innocent little mushroom right now. But believe me they multiply fast and will take over your rock in time. And they will sting the sps corals to kill them. I have heard it over and over where people in the end think they are a scourge and wish they had never put them in the tank. If you do choose to keep them, try and put them where they might be isolated from most rock that you want to put sps corals.]

[Rick, can I superglue a mushroom directly to a rock without it being attatched to substrate or a small rock itself?]

[Yeah, I am aware of the prolific behavior of these shrooms, but I figured I might be able to start a nice shroom rock to trade while I wait on my tank to establish itself. I am not planning on keeping them long term in this tank, I just found it with the LR and figured I'd try to make a pretty rock out of it for someone down the road :D. So should I take the thread of this one and try netting or glue?

Thanks,

Ryan]

[If the shroom doesnt seem "aggravated" then I would just leave it tied up. It shouldnt take long to attach itself.]
