Ok, here's a mystery. These........things are on the live rock in my 72g. There are only 2 of them. There have only been 2 of them. They are not any kind of nem, they are neither slimy nor snotty nor sticky. They feel like shoe leather when touched. They do retreat into a "nub". I have never seen any tentacles come from them, and the color in these photos is true to life. Marc, these are the weird things I was telling you about.

They don't seem to be bothering anything. This tank does support some interesting filter feeders........monkey sea squirts and tunicates, without any supplemental feeding. So, maybe some kind of weird filter feeder? Ideas? Anyone?

Had the same thing in my other tank and Marc said he thought they were tunicates, just not the pretty ones.

Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, :) cause I like these guys. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some kind of evil tank killing highly toxic creature that there is no known antivenom for.

Tunicates I can deal with. I have some of those in that tank already, monkey sea squirts too. And they do great. I've actually been tempted to try a blueberry gorg in that tank since the filter feeders like it so much.

They are hard to make out in this picture. Any chance of taking a picture straight down to get a profile picture too?

No go on that pic Marc. They are stuck to the side of a 65 pound live rock, and back up under an overhang a bit. I can try for a different angle. Let me see what I can get.

I tried in several different ways. I cannot get a profile pic showing what the bottom of them looks like. This is the best I can do. You can see the "foot" in this pic. I swear, it looks like an elephants foot.

Can you squirt a turkey baster at it to blow off anything? It's fuzzy like it's dirty. lol

LOL, and it remained fuzzy after I squirted it. Apparently the fuzzy is part of it.

I have no clue at this point, but they are cool. Whatever they are.

I have those in my tank. I thought they were cool at first, but they started to grow over some corals, which ended up killing the corals.

There really isn't anything they can bother on the rock they are on, so I'm tempted to let them go and see what they do. If they get too crazy, I can take that rock out and dry it out.
