All my peppermints for sale... DEAD!!!!! :(

Well I came back late last night from a weekend of MTB racing. Being tired and late I went straight to bed. This morning I check in on everybody to find all the peppermint shrimp in QT are dead! All 14 that I had left!

All my parameters are good and the only thing I can figure is that maybe they were not fed enough over the weekend while I was gone and staved to death?

I haven't followed your thread too much w/regard to collecting these shrimp but have a question. Where were they collected and what are the normal temps for these shrimp? I am wondering if maybe they died due to being in warmer temps than they are accustomed to. :?: said:
Good question Matt,
The water temperature when I collected last Monday (13th) was about 71-75F. The heated bucket they lived in until Thursday would have been about 78-79 and the QT tank is at 79.

The five I have placed in the main tank all seem to be doing well. At least the couple I have seen this morning. I have still yet to do a close look.

There is a significant change between the gulf water and the bucket temp. I would have though I would have lost quite a few in the bucket but I only lost one. Prior to this we only lost one in QT.

Definately will note the temperature differences for future reference & research this summer when I collect again.

Hmmmm.... Now that could be an issue. They were in Gulf water all the way up until Thursday night (topped off with fresh). I never bothered to check the salinity of the bucket compared to the QT tank while aclimizing  . So maybe the shock eventually got to them? Not sure. Thanks for the comment.
