alkalinity in ulns?

Curious what people on here keep their alk (dkh) at for a ultra low nutrient system...I've read 8 would be ideal for a ulns, anyone keep it higher?

I shoot for 8.5 - 9 dkh I have done 8 dkh and my lps didn't like it.

It's nice as you can now use just reg salt like instant ocean or reg Red Sea coral salt

It's hard for me to find a balance...I have sps dominant, but love softies as well...haven't found that magic number yet...I've never had phospate show on any my tests, even try to over feed but still stuck at zero...guess that's the reason I'm getting burnt tips and some stn..

Is it burnt tips or new growth? Yeah softies in my experience don't do well they like dirtier tanks my blue Xenia and palua nepthia has stayed frag size for almost 2 years.
