ALK is to HIGH or to LOW?

have a question concerning alk. I test last night its 23 drops before turns form blue to yellow, its to high or to low?
im using API test kit its new.

way too high. API test kits are 1 drop= 1 dkh. It needs to be between 8-12 dkh. Do some water changes and let it come down slowly.

It could also be that the test kit is old. Double check it with an LFS
 
Are you shaking it between drops.

There is no way it could be that high... everything would be dead by now. The test kit must be bad and or your doing the test wrong. Do water changes just in case but go get a new kit.

Not entirely true. A long time ago, I had a tank with fish and a few LPS and I took a water sample to Bill at Neptune's Cove and my Alk was off the charts. He stopped testing at 25 dkh. My fish that were already in it were fine but if I tried to add any others they died.

I've found that API all tests aren't accurate when I've used them. You might want to test with another kit. I love Elos tests for alk.
