Algae Clip Question

For those of you with many/multiple/or otherwise algae-crazy tangs, I have a question. I hate having to stick my hands in the tank, wrestle off the suction, poke the puffer away from my hand, poking him away again as I try to stick it back on the glass, etc etc... How do you solve this problem and make it easier to add algae for your buddies?

Here's what I do, and it's worked out great...

(Link to the actual product I'm using is in my post too)

I use magnetic clips.... quick and easy. Just make sure you get the floating option so if they do come loose, it won't drop to the bottom. Or just use some fishing line and attach it like a leash to something outside the tank.

Serk, does the magnet on the top just go on the center brace? Would it be strong enough to hold through a plastic brace?

Mag clip sounds like a good plan, however theres a lip around the top bracing of the tank that would prevent an easy exit for the magnet.

you can put fishing line around it....i like it as i move the magnet different days kind of gives them a little variety of where the food is...

Kaledrina - The other half of the magnet just sits on top of the center brace, and holds the whole mess to the center brace. It's holding through a pretty thick slab of glass (Don't recall exactly the thickness, but it's on an old style Oceanic 150), so it'd probably have no problem holding through a plastic center brace...

I use the same clip as Serk on my plastic center brace and it works just fine. The magnet works well on my 1/2 inch glass too.

I am using two clips and I hang them from the canopy so when I close the
lid, they enter the water up to the clip. When I open the lid, I never have to get my hands
in the water to change out food! The tangs love
it. I did slowly move the clips up to the top before going with the hanging
technique. They are much less visually intrusive this way and when the
algea is gone they are almost invisible.

I ran across a neat idea on Reef Central that has workded wonderfully for me. I went to Home Depot and bought some tarp clips. They are all plastic and somewhat heavy for all plastic. I then used some fishing line run through the hole on the end to secure the clip. I then tied tied the other end of the fishing line to a suction cup on the outside of the tank. Now all I have to do pull the fishing line out the water without getting my hands and arm wet.

Here is the image from the thread I got it from.

That's very similar to what I've done except I just used the regular algea clips and took the suction cup off to add the fishing line.
Also, I only hang the algea in the tank, none of the clip is seen except maybe just a thin line of plastic on the water.
If you don't know what your looking at you'd never hardly know it was there!
