Aiptasia anenomes?

[I have a serious problem with aiptasia anemones; I tried peppermint shrimp that did not work, the shrimp won’t even get close to the anemones. I read about using pickling lime with water but I can’t seem to find pickling lime anywhere. What other method is there? :devil2:]

[Injecting them with boiling water,
Injecting them with lemon juice,
Injecting them with Joe's Juice,
Injecting them with kalkwasser,
Injecting them with Alkalinity (B-Ionic part 1),
Injecting them with limewater paste.

All of these have been tried. It's a pain no matter what.]

[I might try to get a group by on Berhea nudibranches around Christmas time...they are aptasia eating machines]

[Go to any local Albertsons and they'll have Mrs. Ball's pickling lime. If you can't find that, go to any Petco or other LFS and get a jar of Kalkwasser - a bit more expensive, but all the same chemically speaking. Then, go to any local pharmacy like CVS, Walgreens, etc. and tell them you need a syringe/needle combo - probably about $.35c each. They'll probably smirk and try to talk you out of it thinking you're a drug addict, but be persistent and tell them what' it's for - even if they laugh, be persistent. If that doesn't work, try your local veterinarian. When you get all the supplies together, mix up a slurry of the lime and some RO/DI water until it's a toothpaste consistency. Then, load the syringe and slowly inject some of the paste near the "mouth" of the aiptasia - it will ingest the paste, curl up and withdraw into the nearest hole, never to be seen again (hopefully!). These things breed like rabbits, so you may have to do this repeatedly until the population is under control. The idea that you can eliminate them permanently is unfortunately more wishful thinking than reality. Good luck!]

[BigTex, I like your avatar. I think that will be a good movie.

Sorry for running off topic.]

[kalkwasser is the fastest/cheapest way to get rid of them.

Limewater in german is kalkwasser , they are the same thing. I wouldnt recommend a copperband if you are new to the hobby and have a tank smaller than a 125. Those guys work great , but require alot of tank space and experience with finiky fish.. they are sometimes very hard to get to eat.

I use Mrs Wages Pickling lime and by it from a yahoo store in 10 pound orders.......
this is where I order it from

Mrs Wages Pickling Lime

And if you are lucky enough you will get a nice ccokbook with your order like I did,, hehe...
