Adjusting a remora urchin in sump skimmer

Does anyone have any experience adjust the oring on the collection cup with this skimmer? I think I have the oring to high. I think I might be skimming to much. Is this possible?

The higher the O-ring, the lower the cup fits in the Remora body. It would skim pretty wet, and the skimmate would look rather clear. As you lower the O-ring, you raise the cup away from the water in the skimmer and the skimmate should be a little drier and a bit more dense.

My oring is pretty close to the top, and amy getting a lot of debris in the cup. This might sound dumb, but I just do not want to skim to much and remove the vital chemicals from my water. Does that make any sense?

I've used the Remora skimmer for years. It works, but I've never worried it could pull too much out of the tank. I know what you are saying, but I don't think it is warranted.

Lower the O-ring a 1/4" and then let your skimmer work for 48 hours. Check the skimmate.

Ideally, you should clean it daily for best results, just rinsing it in the sink and wiping it out as best possible. If you have a reef-only sponge to clean it, that would be fine. A reef-only toothbrush would be good as well. And every two months, you should use the small brush to clean out the spray injector in the Remora, which is located beneath the collection cup.
