[I put a new addition into my little tank today. I bought an arrow crab to help reduce the bristleworm population a bit. (Thx to Marc for the idea!)

He's cool to watch.

[That type of crab did not dent my worm population.
If you need a trap I know a cheap DIY to trap some worms over night. Works great. Just add a cube of brine shrimp and put a rock on top of it to hold it on the bottom of the tank.

I'd keep a close eye on him as they are generally not considered reef-safe. said:
I've seen just as many posts from people saying they've never had problems with arrow crabs as I have seen saying they sometimes eat things they shouldn't.

As for the bristleworms, I'm just trying to thin them down a little bit. They aren't out of control or anything.]

[Why would anyone want to get rid of their bristle worms anyways? They are one of the best at cleaning detrius from your tank. You can sell them on ReefCentral. I know when I first started a tank I can remember buying some myself. I am actually glad though that I have had only those little orange ones. And not any of those big nasty tanish white ones that get huge. Steve used to have a couple in his tank that were about two feet long. He never had to worry about me taking any live rock out of his tank.]

[There is nothing wrong with reducing their population a bit. I never liked seeing them out every time I fed the tank. It was almost disgusting with 1000s coming out. The Longnosed Hawkfish and my Arrow Crab kept them at bay, but didn't eradicate them.]

[I think their population is directly related to the amount of waste they have to eat. Keep a very clean tank, you have very little bristle worms, having more detrius, you have more bristle worms.]

[Wow David

Next time you catch a mess like that bring them over.

Ill throw them in my refugium.]
