Activated Carbon

I'm in preparation to dose Flatworm eXit on my tank. Salifert recommends using 1 lb./50 gallons of activated carbon to remove it. Being that I have a big tank, I'll need 7+ lbs. Since I was having a hard time finding a big enough canister filter, I went ahead and built one (pretty good I think; I'll post it in the DIY forum if it works).

So, on to the question....I had some Aqua-pure carbon whose directions basically gave about the same recommendation. Not having enough of it though, I ordered some large tubs of Sea-chem Matrix carbon. It's directions say I only need 250ml/100 gallons, which equates to 4-5 cups. This is obviously way less than Salifert's recommendation or the directions on the other carbon. Does anyone know if this is super carbon or something? I looked through Sea-chem's site and saw all the 'spherical' stuff, but I mean...does it really work that well? If I only need 4-5 cups of the stuff, I can use my Phosban reactors for it.

I know it hasn't been long, but I'm trying to get this completed. Does anyone have any experience with Matrix carbon? It seems like the Sea-chem peeps think that you can do the same job with less carbon if you use theirs (go figure).

If it's true, and I guess it could be, then I may have a giant DIY phosphate/carbon/canister filter to sell to someone with a real big tank for cheap.
