Brand new bulb, so didn't just burn-out of old age. What could be a cause of the light going out early? I have tested all connections except within the light-unit itself.

yes. it is a 2x96w ballast. switched the connections and the bulb still stayed off. both sockets work fine with the working bulb.
That bites. Did you buy it recently? You might be able to get it replaced if that is the case. I'm not the biggest fan of PC's (I have them on a couple of tanks). The overall quality has never impressed me too much and they seem to fail more often than VHO's. said:
Bought them about 6 weeks ago. Just set it up 2 weeks ago. Bought online at premium aquatics though. not sure how easy it is to get replacements from online places. never hurts to try.
