Acrylic source  ?

[Looking for a good acrylic source. I am building a refugium and needs some acrylic to make dividers with. I am using a 20 or 30 gal oceanic glass tanks as the body of the refugium. Also what would be a good bond to use for the glass to acrylic connections.

Thanks

[Hi Todd,

You can buy scrap acrylic at Regal Plastics, which is on the east sideo of F/W, right off 820. You do have to buy 10lbs worth minimum, which is .75 a pound.

You can also get some acrylic at Home Depot, many have said although I've never verified this.

Securing it, you can use silicone, but it won't be as strong as using Weld-On #40 (two part mix). However, in a sump, you don't need super strength just to hold baffles in place. After all, you want your water to flow from one area to the next, unlike a display tank that has to hold water in statis forever.]

[The acrylic at Home Depot and Lowe's is very thin, and can ONLY be used for the barriers, not the tank. I know that is what you are using it for, but thought I'd add that, in case someone wanted to know :)]

[Marc...what are the sizes you get when you buy scrap? I know that they are not all the same , but what are some of the larger pieces you have gotten?

I have bought Acrylic from Allied Plastic in Dallas. They were much better than Regal on the price. I needed a 12" x 48" - 1/4" bronze piece. Regal quoted me $28. I got it at Allied for $15. Being in Arlington and the fact that I have more time then money, I went to Allied. :)]
