Acropora combo - Good find!

[Decided to stop by Fish Gallery this evening and somehow or another, this thing jumped into a bag with some water, and tied itself in with some rubber bands. Then, using it's mind control it forced me to hand my credit card to the cashier. Before I knew what had happened, it was in my tank! :D

The other side (hard to tell from this shot, but most of the tips are sky blue)

These shots were taken about 15 minutes after going in. Much to my amazement, there is already loads of polyp extension.]

[Kevin I saw that piece on Wednesday, nice piece. As I recall it was one of their better deals. I would watch that piece though, as those two species start to grow, one may start to kill the other. You may have to split that rock with a chisel or something. Just keep an eye on them.]

You know, I didn't even think about the 2 killing each other. Thanks for the tip!

I thought it was a great deal for the price, which was less then the $80 piece I had my eye on.

Wow, looking at those pics, one might think I've become addicted to SPS or something.]

[Good find - keep us updated on the color change. I saw that on Thursday and I was tempted. But I ended up buying a big rock covered with ricordia yuma mushroom and a small frag (which I hope is efflo).]

[Will do. I hope the color change is for the better, I still don't have MH over my tank. I have been working to get my nutrient levels lower, wet skimming, running Purigen, taking care of my refugium, and increasing water change frequency. I have too many fish in my wee 55 gal, a problem I'll resolve as soon as I get the nerve to pull all of the rock out so I can catch the rascals. :lookaround:]

[Yeah, I looked this morning and the bases are already touching. Neither one is showing any indication of injury or distress.]

[that should be interesting to watch.

will one overgrow the other?

will one die back from touching the other?

keep us posted!]

[Well, it looks like I need to split the combo up. When I came home this evening, I noticed that the colony in the second picture had 1 tip go RTN as well as almost the entire ridge where it's touching the other colony.

What a bummer! :Oo:]

[Actually, I haven't done anything yet. There hasn't been any more tissue loss and now there is a nice ridge of skeleton between the two colonies. I figured I would just watch and see if anything else happens. :smart: :lookaround:]
