Acclimating tank to new bulbs

I'm changing out my long past due XM 15K's with a new pair of Phoenix 14K's. What does everybody do to acclimate their tank to the new bulbs?

Yeah, I have never done anything in the past either. I do plan on shortening the cycle on my 90G when I swap from VHO to Halides next week, but not when just swapping MH bulbs on other setups.

neither, i turn down the ballasts :)

i know i know, not very helpful, but i love the adjustable ballasts...before i bought these though, i did shorten the cycle for bulbs and new inhabitants

I just change the bulbs without doing anything special and have not had any problems. I use a mix of XM 10K's and Reeflux 12K's both 205W.

I don't do anything either and have not had any problems using 250 Reeflux 12K. I do sometimes raise them up a few inches, but just to clean the tank. I have sps too at the top of the tank. One time it looked it burned a bit at the top but the coral quickly recovered.

Well, got the new bulbs and they're installed. I shortened my light cycle by 3 hrs. (1.5 at each end). I'll add .5 hr back every few days or so until back to normal. Thanks for the input y'all!

I just installed a brand new 10,000K 150w bulb over my angled tank tonight. Immediately I could tell the difference in PAR without a meter. I reduced the timer to 6 hours from 9 hours a day. Even that might be too long. I may put a layer of window screen over the top of the tank just in case, to help filter some of the light out.
