Acclamation Questions and Rubberbanning Question?

When you add something new to a tank, is it better to turn your lights off for the process, or keep them on? I didnt know if having them off would cause less stress on the object. In addition, I see that many members rubberband items in there tank, i.e. mushrooms, corals, etc. Does this cause a problem with releasing toxins from the rubber into the tank? Are there any other similar methods you use to accomplish the same thing?

New fish can be acclimated during the day time or during the night time. Many choose to add them to a dark tank because it allows the new fish to find a safe spot and the other fish aren't as prone to chase the newcomer.

If you are floating the bag under your hot lights, the air in the bag can get hot. So you need to be aware of that. I tend to float my newcomers in the sump where they don't touch anything. Then after they have been acclimated with tank water, I pour out all the water and put the new item in my reef.

I know this wasn't very specific about the actual procedure, but I'm sure others will chime in with their various methods.
