AC3 and text messages

I tried to find it in the manual but I can't find it. How in the world to I get my AC3 to send a message to mynumber@txt.att.net when an alarm goes off?? said:
just have to enter that address in the AC3 , using the front panel. And it really is a PIA to enter by scrolling through the whole alphabet/charters.

FYI my phone gets a garbled txt, as in I get an error when trying to read it, Neptune does not know why, only once in 100 times did I get the actual readout. FYI mine is ATT as well. But atleast I know something is wrong and then can access it via the internet to see what alarm is active.

Do you have to just enter a "to" address or is it gonna send the text from my email? said:
you have to enter your POP info for your email server as well as the TO address.

This thread may help you. I'm still not getting it to work, but I've not tried all that hard yet:

yeah I just setup my 1source account but I didnt ever put in any username or password so I have no idea??

You have to know how your ISP's email setup works. What your outgoing (SMTP) server address is, whether that server requires you to log in before sending email, what your username and password are for that account if so, etc.

Some folks set up a gmail account just to be able to send email out through it, since so few folks remember or can find those details for an ISP account set up years ago and clicked 'remember password'.

I'd also suggest - instead of putting your @txt.att.net (I know, if you've already taken the effort to type in your e-mail address, you may not feel like changing it again :) ), setup a gmail account and enter that address into your AC3.

Then, on your gmail account, setup a filter that forwards any mail that matches the AC3 e-mail, i.e., with subject "Aquacontroller status" to your @txt.att.net address.

The advantage to doing it this way is that you can send the e-mail to several email addresses (not just two) just by setting up another gmail filter. For me, I have filters to forward to my phone, my son's phone, personal e-mail (gmail), and work, just to make sure I get the message. :)

I use gawab.com sinc gmail was a pain for me. It has filters as well to forward. I have att iphone and it works great.

Just make sure the FROM address is another email address besides your gawab.com mail address.

Also, log in every so often to gawab so it doesn't think you've abandoned.

A lot of spammers use gawab, so your ISPs spam filters may not deliver with an ip of a gawab server (many of their gateways are on Relay Black Lists - RBLs).
