ABS Plastic Question

Anyone ever use abs inside of your tank? I have a 180 gal that I plan to put a piece of 1/8 in abs plastic on the bottom. It's going to be a BB tank. Just wondering if the abs will release any toxins. Any info will help- Thanks.
 
Should be fine, but 1/8" material will curl up unfortunately. Even 1/2" HDPE (cutting board) material will curl up slightly.

I'm relatively certain the AGE tanks have ABS for the bottom panel. I've heard it called PVC many times, so you might want to confirm that rather than believe my post. :p
 
You could try places like Regal Plastics or Allied Plastics, but it would be wiser to use cutting board material instead. Silicone may help hold it down.
 
I've got some of the cutting board material in it already- don't like the color. I bought the tank used and the previous owner had it in there already. Does that stuff come in black?

It comes in several colors, and yes it floats. What Keith did was fill up some PVC pipe with sand and put it on the starboard after it was siliconed to keep it on the bottom of the tank when he filled it up with water (after the one week of cure time).

Don't remove the weights until you have LR to replace it with to avoid buoyancy issues.
