Today I got up after a few measly hours of sleep to see my beautiful pink A. millepora leaning into the neighborly favia my son gave me. Not good. It's been growing steadily and things are just getting too tight in that section of the tank. The Scripps acros grow like crazy as well, and it was only a matter of time before some serious contact issues would arise. I never planned on the milli leaning over though.
So the first thing I tried to do was lean it back where it was. That didn't work for whatever reason. So I decided to pry it from the rockwork, with the Bytor orange zoanthids holding on for dear life.
Once it was out of the way, Spock swooped in to find and devour all the valonia (bubble algae). Since it was open to reach, I figured I might as well feed the aiptasia some delightful kalk paste so they could die.
And since I was doing that, I figured I'd do the same to more red mushrooms. As you can see, this little issue became a minor project. Anyway.....
The milli was mounted to a new rock with two-part putty and then placed in the prop section so it could bond strongly before attempting to put it back in the reef. The coral is 15 months old, grown from the frag in the first picture of this thread.

In the process of all this excitement, I created a new coral for the future. Feels like I'm starting all over again, doesn't it?
