A New Home

Had to share this, I am so excited! I am still very new to the hobby and sometimes I feel like I have no idea what I am doing! Several months ago a bought a pair of VERY young false percales from a LFS. I was told because they are captive bred that they would probably never host and even though I really wished they would I resigned to that thought and went about my business. Well a few days ago I saw one of them rubbing against a small mushroom in my tank. Not really knowing, i thought it might be trying to host the mushroom so the next day I went to a LFS and bought an anemone. Again they LFS told me they didn't think my fish would host, but I got it on sale and I like the way anemones look so i figured it was worth a shot.

Well today when I came home I found this.....

YAY ME!!! Now, can someone help me? What kind of anemone is this? I was told it was a purple long tentacled anemone...

Jody!

Nice lta. Feed it twice a week and watch it grow. My clowns love mine too. I wish I had a purple one but I love my big lta. Feed peeled shrimp or silversides. I do not get much waste feeding peeled shrimp. Good luck
My old lta.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I have been researching what to feed and how often. Your help is greatly appreciated. My clowns are loving this anemone, I gotta keep it alive for them!

With proper lighting there is no need to feed the nem. The clowns may actully start feeding it too.

Likely true but feeding is easy and interesting so why not? I was told the same thing and obviously my lighting wasn't adequate as my nem started shrinking until I started feeding it. The tentacles got really stubby and short. I was told when I bought it I shouldn't have to feed it "no one in the wild goes in and feeds them" Seemed to make sense. Then when it started shrinking I adopted the theory "if it has a mouth it needs to be fed". That one makes more sense to me since we are not in the wild, we are in a contained environment.
