A Montipora Digitata That Moves Around the Tank

[washingtond]

Believe it or not I have a Montipora Digitata that moves around our frag tank and eats algae. Here are some pictures if you don't believe me.

I don't when it got attached to the snail who was only added about two months ago and did not have the coral on it. It seems to be growing really fast and has completely covering the snail as you can see from the pictures.

That's kind of cool, but I'd think eventually the coral will encrust either over or the opening or into the opening suffocating the snail unless the snail has some kind of slime that would prevent the coral from doing that.

We shall see. Since the bottom of the snail gets very light it might not encrust.

That is really cool.
I have a moving eating clump of hair algae.
He is the only one and is fun to watch.

That's pretty cool, David. Your monti-snail seems even more interesting to me than the 'walking dendro' in my display. I'm going to have to keep an eye on this thread. Looks to be doing quite well so far though.
