I finally decided to use the digital zoom on my camera after 2 yrs and was happy with a few of the pics I got. I still really need a new camera but anyway...
However, from a technical point of view, in my ever so humble opinion (Someone more familiar with photography feel free to correct me, but I feel I'm on pretty firm ground here) I recommend never using digital zoom. Use the optical zoom for all it's worth, but the digital zoom doesn't buy you anything you can't get through software after the picture has been taken and transferred to your computer, but does lose the peripheral image data that you would still have if you hadn't used the digital zoom on the camera...
Hope that makes sense, and don't take the above comment as me "slamming" you or anything, just my ever so humble opinion on the subject...
Chris:
Thanks! That's my very aggressive tube anemone. There are a few like him on ebay that are purple. They are really neat critters and I have been thinking about buying one of the purple ones. VERY AGGRESSIVE though. He does stay in one place however so as long as your not a dummy like me and let something fall right in his mouth you should be good. Here's a link in case you are interested. This is the only place I have ever seen them for sale.
Brian:
You may be right. I don't know. The pics are kind of grainy being zoomed in so far. I used the regular zoom for all it was worth and then the digital on top of that. My little ol camera was top of the line a few yrs back but it's only 3 mp and tanks are just hard to take good pics of anyway.
