92 gallon circulation

[hi - i am planning a 92 gallon oceanic corner/bowfront tank - this will not be in wall, but, will have an open top with no canopy, so, i am trying to minimize the amount of stuff on the top - it will be lit by 2 pendants - but,

how should i provide circulation for it - it will sit snugly in a corner of a room, so no room for closed loops or pipes running up the side of the tank, so ...

i plan on using the 3/4" return drilled in the overflow split into 2, i am trying to avoid powerheads, but, i think a tunze stream with controller is the best way to go - perhaps hanging in the back of the tank pointing to the front and then bouncing around - any ideas??? thanks

[That's going to be a lot for the 30" to handle. Are you going to have a sandbed? You can turn it down with a contoller but what is the point if you are only using it at 30%

If you point it toward the front like your thinking I'm afraid you'll have sand all over the place. Since you can't do a closed loop you will have to have some type of powerheads.

Maybe 2 Seio 620s. They are much more gentle (because the flow is much lower) and would give you another 1200 GPH in addition to the return which should get you around 500 - 600 so that should be enough flow!

Definitly a tough tank without a CL!]

[well, that i my concern - i just don't know how to do a closed loop - there is no room on the sides of the tank and i can't drill the bottom of the tank, additionally, the warranty is void if i drill the tank - i had planned a bare bottom system, but, i don't want the corals blown away - how would i do a cl??]

[You can't!

If your bare bottom go ahead and get a Tunze if you've got the money! you can split the retuns to go down the sides and fire the Tunze right down the middle! You can put any LPS or softies toward the sides and your acros and stuff in the center. It should workout fine!]

[how do you split the return on the tunze?? if i split it, should i go with 6100 or even worry about going with a controlled one?? sounds good, just don't know how to pull it off - thanks keith

[No, no not the Tunze the return from tthe sump. Sorry about that. I would go with the 6000 but I'm cheap. Seriously it should be plenty for that tank because with your return pump and that you can combine for ~25 times turnover and you should be able to keep anything you want with that!

The controller is cool and the food timer is very nice. I think for the extra $50 it is worth it! 6000 Stream Kit

Be sure to contact Brad Ward on this board as he can get them at pretty good deals. Just tell him your a member!]

[okay, that makes much more sense!! -- i could split it 3 ways - two along the sides and one down behind the rocks - thanks]
