75 Gallon Pre-Build Equipment List

I'm putting together a 75 gallon reef that I plan to make mixed reef with emphasis on SPS. To date I have acquired:

75 gallon Oceanic RR tank
Melev 40 x 15 x 16 Sump with refugium (currently being built)
EuroReef RS 135 Skimmer
Precision Marine CR422 calcium reactor with Milwaukee controller
2 x Aqua Euro 250 watt hqi pendants with Giesemann bulbs
Eheim 1260 return (decided against the Mag 9.5)
ATO top off
2 x Koralia 4's, 3 x Koralia 1's (the 1's are from my current BioCube 29)

I'd like opinions on what else I need/should change.

Thanks!

John

The tank is a standard 48.5"L x 18.5"D x 21.5"H with one overflow. Sump to top of tank will be about 5 feet. I can always throttle that mag back a bit on the output side. Thanks!

John, I have 2 #1s, 1 #2 and 1 #3 koralia on my 90g corner.

You might want to mix it up a little more. 2 #4 might be too much flow in your tank. The #3 has a lot of power it adds to the tank.

I also only have a mag 5 running up to my tank through the return and it's fine. I just have to clean it out ever so often.

You could really get away with a Mag 7 unless your stand is really tall and you're having to pump that water really high. It would be a lot more efficient. If you do go w/the Mag 9.5 said:
I've seen plumbing examples of both a ball valve at the pump and a T re-routing part of the return to the refugium.

If I were to plumb the T to the refugium won't the return flow pretty much bypass the T as it takes the path of least resistance up to the tank?

So what you are saying is:

From the pump, place a ball valve with a T below it. Restriction at the ball valve will redirect water through the T into the refugium, right?

You might want to think about getting some type of controller like the AC3 or ACjr. That way you could controll your koralias and lights plus do a lot of other things.

Convinced the Mag 9. 5 was a bit much pump I went out and bought an Eheim 1260. the differences are:

Eheim 1260: Max Pump Output: 635 gph, PowerConsumption: 65Watts

Mag 9.5 Max pump output: 950 gph, Power Consumption: 93 Watts

2/3 less flow and nearly 2/3 less power consumption, and from what I've heard much more quiet in operation.
