72" lighting options on a tight budget

I have a friend who is trying to put together equipment for his tank. He bought DalaiTom's 110 gallon and is looking for an economical light option. He plans on starting with a FOWLR and later on a reef. I suggested a T5 or VHO retrofit kit. He was thinking about some kind of PC setup but I did that starting out and regretted it later. With VHO or T5s, imo, he can always add metal halides later if he chooses or add more VHO or T5s. Anyway does anyone know of some good deals or have a basic setup that he could replicate?

He could replicate the original setup I had on the tank by getting two (or more) 48" fixtures and having them staggered.
I got the 48" fixtures I used at Custom Aquatics.
They have complete fixtures (both good and cheap ones) and also retrofits.

DO NOT let him buy PCs, that's on par with throwing his money away. A T5 retro would be the best choice IMO. If it's FOWLR then centering the light or staggering the lamps shouldn't be a big deal.
