I own a 6 gallon fluval. My 36 watts leds are hanging 4-5in above the tank. will this be to much lighting for my zoas? hell is this to much watts for my tank? What can i keep and what i can't keep?
The watts per gallon measurement hasn't been an effective gauge of lighting since the T8s. It's all about PAR ratings.
That being said, it's best to acclimate corals to leds as they have a higher concentration of light as opposed to MHs and T5s. Your corals will let you know if they're not happy.
I aqree watts per gallon is not effective on LEDs but 36 watts seems like way too much for a 6 gallon. I have a 6 gallon nano cube at my office and 4 - 3watt LEDs is more than enough for zoas.
