60G Cubed Reef

Well my little part of the ocean is up and running.

Tank/stand/canopy/drilling were done at Tranquil Scape. As some of you know I tore down my 180G(which is still for sale BTW) because I had to move. I needed something compact but still could hold quite a bit of water. My cube is 24^3 so it comes fits pretty nicely.

Equipment list:
2 Quiet One 6000s
AquaC Urchin Pro - Mag 3
Hamilton Reefstar HQI 250W DE pendant
2 2' VHO Actinic on Icecap 660
2 sets of blue lunar lights - each containes two LEDs

Here are pictures of the plumbing. Basically four 1" bulkheads and one 1.5" for the sump drain. Two of the 1 inchers are for the CL, one fore sump return and one for water changes. I went with a Durso(thanks Marc) drain and have it set up high so it'd be quiet.

I used slip Union joints so everything could be taken apart pretty quickly. I put ball valves where necessary and if need be I could move rocks out of the way and plug up the drains from inside the tank.

Here's a pic of the back of the canopy where the two PFO fans are mounted:

Here's a pic of the PVC rack which I may modify and my aquascaping that I redid today:

I was going to go BB but I really do like the look of sand. With the two Quiet One 600s I should have over 2200GPH of flow. But I might trade out one for a 3000 for the sump return to help with the micro bubbles.

The systen runs extremely QUIET and I wouldn't have done it any other way as I need to sleep right next to it! The CL drain and return are hidden underneath the Tonga slab/PVC rack.

thanks guys

just added a couple pieces of flat rock to create two more shelves and caves, migh put something like a sun coral or other non-light needy corals under them later

i'll probably stick with this rockwork [lus some additional tonga branch as long as the ex[osed PVC doesn't get to me too much

got a wrasse and a hawkfish from another member, dinner for me wartskin whenever he gets here as I ordered one from Ramin last week

Well I had a phosphate problem so I removed the old sandbed and the PVC rock rack. I stacked a good chunk of the smaller rocks underneath the big tonga slabe to elevate it. Now I'm a bit low on rock. I'll probably end up making the two side stacks higher and the middle stack about halfway up the tank. I still plan to have the three shelves using the three prominently flat pieces on top.

Now to leave the bottom as is and clean often or put in a DSB that would come up to the tonga shelf almost.

Oh I took out my Quiet One 6K CL pump because it raised my tank temperature a good 4 degrees sometimes. Without it running my tank evaporated at least 60% less water as I was gone for almost a week and the water level was still high when I got back.

well here's my latest and hopefully last attempt

my latest additions can't really been seen as they're still hiding, there's a 1/4" frag of monti laying around on top though

not really worried about it as I also have a 6G nanocube on the right side of the monitor now :D

my computer itself is on a shelf to the right and above of the nano

well a little over a month and I think I got the tank dialed in, except I got the itch to aquascape to get more space for corals

might consider shoving the OBVIOUS maxijet behind the rockwork to help blow deitrius out from there, possibly re-do the CL into a spraybar for that purpose too

my computer in my room sits directly between my 7 gallon on the right and my 46 directly on the left. I've been running the 46 for about a year in this location and the 7's been up for about 5 months. So far I haven't had any problems whatsoever.
