4g 14k Nuvo Aquarium

I just set up my 4g just now.

I'm going to run it bare-bottom. I took a rock out of my 90g so it shouldn't be too long before this is cycled. I'll add a few snails, hermits, and maybe a shrimp.

I doubt i'll keep any fish in this just due to the fact sometimes I leave for extended periods of time.

I plan on having zoas and ricordeas in this tank. I might put some GSP on the back wall. I haven't decided yet.

It has a media basket that I'm putting cheato in instead of the phosphate sponge. It lets me attach a jbj led fuge light back there too.

Week 2
- there are a few xenia still in there but barely look alive.
- there were some starfish hitchhikers that made it and went back into the rock work.
- I had to top off a little ... the evaporation rate seems normal with the glass top on.

Neat little tank. I was looking at one of these for my desk at work.

Did you pick it up locally?

Thanks!

The wife picked it up from Marine Depot when they had them on sale for $99.00. I think they went back up to $150.00

I'm pretty happy with it. I used a seeded rock from my main tank and the starfish that came with it are still kicking. The xenia that was on the rock is still alive, but not pulsing. I think I have about a week or two before I want to put anything in there.

3rd week ... xenia is still alive but not pulsing like it normally does.

There are quite a few starfish in there that have survived since day 1. I haven't tested my parameters, but i don't think there is much left in the mini cycle it had.

4th week.

Tank is cycled and 0 of everything. There is a little bit of algae growing, but I just now set up my chaeto in the back so i'm hoping it will reduce the phosphates.

I added a GSP frag and within a few hours its extended its polyps nicely.

It's been a while ... I'll take a full tank shot later. It's a little cloudy from the goby/pistol shrimp burrowing

Thanks. I was a little worried when the pistol shrimp went straight to the back. The goby hung out front and about 15 minutes later the shrimp started to dig the holes in the front. As soon as he did that the goby went down into the burrow with the shrimp. But luckily the goby still comes out and eats well already.

What made you switch from bare bottom to sand. I like the new rock work as well said:
I didn't want to have to siphon out the detrius every time i did a water change. Plus I wanted a goby + pistol shrimp. That required me to add sand :)

That's the same rock, its just positioned differently.

Not really ...

Its still pretty simple. Here's a picture of the goby & shrimp.

I'm thinking of upgrading the lights here pretty soon.
