46g "build" could use some advise

OK. I bought a 46g bowfront from Frank The Tank. Got it set up in my living room (moved the 37g that was there to my office, per the "boss").

Bought one 4lb piece of live rock from one of my LFS' and some base.

Some of the pieces were a bit... odd...

But... in time when its covered in Xenia... who will notice? So I did my best aquascaing with what I had and came up with this...

And two weeks later.... DIATOMS! Woot

To be continued....

ok...

So we bought some more base rock, including this ugly barnacle thing my fiancee absolutely had to have.

We also had this 2gallon pico, and when our numbers were finally perfect on the 46, we broke it down and mixed the two together.

This is a live rock with some cool dusters. I got it for the price of the rock, about $4. The zoos were also $4, $1 a polyp, and have nice color I think.

Here are some zoos I got for free at DNA... shhhhh!

Here are Misty's 50 cerith snail juveniles hanging out on the barnacle...

Here is the already opening and happy GSP I got from Sharko

Here is a cool shell that came in the 50lbs of live sand I got at DNA for .25 a pound out of a 400 FOWLR they had just broken down.

Here is a $2 mushroom I got from Odyssea, which has tripled in size in 2 weeks.

These were $4.99 at DNA. I cant get a good shot of them, but they are cool.

And another $2 mushroom, happy on his baserock.

So, obviously I need some stuff. One is more rockwork... I've got to figure out the best way to add height without making it look like a "stack of rocks".

Another is more flow. I plan to add a Koralia 1 soon, which I think will get me where I need to be.

I dont have room for a sump down below. I was thinking I could put a big canister down there, like an Eheim 2217. Could I put a SCWD on the return?

I also have a pretty big (Whisper 60) HOB I was going to convert to a fuge. The damn dog ate the impeller. Know where I can get a new one?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I would say something but I cant get to that site that hosts your pictures for some odd reason :)

I don't know how you can add hieght without stacking rocks, i guess you mean like having just a pile of them. Continute with what you have and get more longer pieces and continue the arches and stuff. I know a lot of people use rods and zip ties to make large arcs and caves i used epoxy for mine. I don't know why you couldn't use a scwd on a canister filter as long as it meets the required flow for it but possible over time as the flow reduces from the filter getting dirty it might not work as well. But i could be wrong maybe someone else who has one could chime in. As for the impeller google it under shopping and u find a lot of sites that sell it looks like its around 6 dollars maybe a few more for shipping. hope that helps.

I could consider drilling out some rock and using acrylic rods... live framing is another option...

any other feedback? is it pretty? :)
