Thats nuts! It's a nice looking Tang but can you imagine loosing it while in quarantine! Usually I am more upset when loosing a life I am responsable for but in this case my pocket book would hurt more!

Wow. I think I'll pass.. I think I've barely got that much invested into my whole system...

Its a beautiful fish but man. For $3000, I can buy a lot of new toys...

Fish are like everything else in life. Some people will not spend that much for a fish, where some will. Some will buy a Bentley, while some will buy a Buick. Me personally, if I could afford it I would get it. I like fish that are not as common in the home aquarium. We all risk money everytime we buy livestock. It just comes down to how much you are willing to risk.

I would get it, but I am still working on the Bentley GTC. There is only going to be 250 built, and they are all sold as of now. If anyone knows of one available, let me know. Then I will get the Gem Tang. :)

What a beautiful fish! Wetwebmedia.com has this to say:

I guess at least it stands a fighting chance for survival when someone finally buys it!

man, for that kind of money, I'd buy a plane ticket to Indonesia and go find a couple and smuggle it back here :) JK.

I do know several tropical fish importers from Indonesia that sells to distributors in florida and california. I am sure with the conversion rate, it won't cost but $ 40-50 for each.

Cool Fish and if I remember right it WAS 3600 bucks a few months back.
I'm thinking however, I can use a white paint marker on a Purple tang for ALOT less

Thats crazy,Ive been wanting to buy the 500.00 dollar clowns they have every once and while..The tang looks like one of a kind maybe becase of the price

It was $4999.99 the first couple of weeks the fish was available. I remember because I was at Frank's and he told me he was thinking about getting a black tang but it was around $500 on liveaquaria so I logged on to check it out and the gem tang was also just listed.

Wonder how much they paid for it.
