29 G Reef Ready

Got the tank from Joe, and starting up the build.

29 Gallon, HOB AquaC Skimmer/20 gallon tall tank for sump.

Planning to sump build, decide to go with 1/4" baffle. Here is the Plan

This is was a great deal and I was trying to find time to go pick it up but noticed that by the time I was free it was sold. I know now where it went! It was exactly what I was looking for. I'll be following!

Here is ATO I created last night, I will be using lifter pump, with 1.5 liter tall bottle, space is very limited because of my sump plan.

I am missing my ATO holder, I found old heater holder to hold in place, this will allow be adjust height easily.

Yeah, I kinda luck out on this deal, because I am lot closer, also Chino I need to thank you on this too [smilie=smile.gif]

No need to thank me. Thank Joe for the great deal. float switch is looking good.

Finally installed the baffle in the sump, plan change little bit,rather than having two bubble trap, I decide the have just one and add the a single wall setup before the return pump, I will post the pic tomorrow.

Well took me couple of weeks to gather material to build the light

Got light got heat sink and other part off the ebay.

total of 72 watt, I could add additional four cool white, placed in the heat sink already, but miscalculated the driver, and I am short on power for four.

I have 6 cool white, 6 warm white, 12 royal blue, and 2 blue. All Cree 3 watt.

I will posting my plumbing pics soon.

3/4" return.

will be adding ball valve, and plan to use MAG 5 for the return pump.

Heatsink i got it off of ebay for $20 shipping was $25.

Cree LEDs i got it for about $1.50 each off of ebay, bought it from multiple people shipping was free.

Mean Well drive it was used and pay $15 each. 10 ohm knob was $2.

$45 for heatsink

30x1.50 = $45 for LED

drivers = $30

knob and cable = $10

total of $130.

this is poor-man's ghetto style LED, most of stuff is used except LED and cable.

Thanks

Looking good. Nice build. It may be a "poor man's ghetto style LED" but it will get the job done. That's all that matters. I finally got a setup similar but went smaller (20 tall 10gall sump) and will setup soon once I get the sump and plumbing tweaked. Im trying out the LEDs that it came with and adding a few more. It's GU10 sockets with 3X 1 watt bulbs. Fixture came with 11 bulbs but I added 5 additonal. I heard the growth on these LEDs are insane so I figured Id try it out. Sockets and bulbs are dirt cheap and the wiring was very easy. These dont require ballast/drivers either. Here's a linkhttp://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=267432. If it fails I will go with the crees like yours.

Again, great build and I will be still be following.

yes, you might have point there, I am using HOB so my water level need to be high, I have drain pipe level with first baffle. you think this will cause issue? I am about to pick up the return pump from Burbarry , he was nice enough to lower the price of pump. I might have to give him a frag later on. I could test the tank this weekend. I will definitely let you guys know. Again I really appreciate your feedback.

Had leak test, and looks like no leak, I have to lower the drain pipe because of Matt had point. Now no splash from return.

I need to redo the plumbing little bit, need to figure out the return find the better way to recirculate the water.

Thanks
