I wanted to make a separate thread here so you guys could see what was going on... I have an 8' 300gal that is mostly a FOWLR tank but I'd like some deeper blues, add moonlights and eventually some more soft coral and maybe a little LPS gathered in the middle of the tank...
I've been using a 6' 3x 150w MH light for my tank with some CHEAP bulbs. for my fish its been fine. but every time I go to the LFS and see these deep blue tanks they look SO pretty. so I ordered a single 27" Maxspect Razor setup and basically replaced the middle 150w MH bulb (just removed/unplugged the ballast). so I have the LEDs in the middle (which is were most of my accidental/hitch hiker coral is now) and i LOVE these LEDs.
I'll probably just quit being cheap and order at least one more set (after my halides go out tonight I'll move these to one side to see how they light the tank but I'm pretty sure it will be more than fine). If 2 of these arent enough, I'l order a 3rd set.
Anyhow, here's one 27" fixture between 2 crapy 150w MH bulbs. Thanks for your recommendation on these Razors guys. SO sleek looking.
PS: LEDS are at 47%
