I'm in the final stages of my stand and canopy and just realized the fans I got are 24v fans. Can anyone help me with an easy "how to" or maybe just some advice on wiring them. It's not like I can exchange them they were free. :D

Thanks,

Lance

Ac or DC ?

I found a laptop power supply in the misc bin at altex when I needed to run some 24v equipment.. worth a shot.

Good call. I checked and I have one laptop that runs on 18v and one that runs on 20 volts. Now at least I know what to look for.

Thanks Scott,

Lance

If you want something smaller than a laptop power supply, there is some guitar equipment with 24V or 18V power supplies. If you want full bore, buy 24V. If you don't think you need it buy 18V. Fans will run at 75% of output, but run quieter. (18V from Guitar Center -- 24V from Guitar Center) They might have this locally in stock (just ask them to match online pricing). Just check your current draw from the fans. The 18V adaper is 1000ma, but the 24v is only 100ma.

I run my 12v fans at 9v to cut down on noise. At 12v they sound like a small jet engine. But I did buy 106CFM fans!
