150 progress

[The new 150 (been getting things together for the last 8 months) is getting close to adding water so I thought I would post a few pictures. Sysytem includes: Oceanic 150 reef ready tank, custom made stand, canopy and sump by our very own Scott Comstock (applauds), etss-800 clone diy skimmer,Oceansmotions Squirt, 1/3 hp chiller and (3) Gen-x Mak4 pumps. (1) pump runs from the return section of the sump to the (2) supplied return lines on the tank, (1) pump runs from the return section to the chiller and up to the Oceansmotions squirt and (1) pump draws water from the supply section and runs to the skimmer where it is returned to the same section. The Tank sits in my livingroom and the chiller, skimmer, and ballast for lights sits in what used to be a long narrow closet that was basicaly wasted space under a stairway leading to our 2nd floor.]

[I only have one complaint. The pictures are too small. :cussing:

Other than that, all is well. :p]

[Looks really awesome, I wish I had the paitence to wait and do things the proper way. I never have time to do it right the first time but then I have to find time to correct it later.

How has your wife let you keep an empty tank in the living room? You must be married to a great lady!]

[newtofish, yes my wife has been a SAINT thru this entire process. It is hard to see, but she even let me pull the carpet out of the livingroom and stain the concrete floors (which she now LOVES) and I think she is getting as excited as I am to finaly get this thing up and running..lol :wwww:]

[Stained concrete is pretty unique. But in the summer, it will feel great on bare feet.

I love the look, but it isn't seen all that often in homes. What color did you go with?]

[Marc, They said it was a red shade but the best description is that it looks like leather (reddish browns..light and dark)]

[test water is, and after fixing a few minor leaks the system is running well :) the (2) gen-x pumps under the cabinet are extremely NOISY ! lots of motor humm!! and the one I purchased for my skimmer sounds like a moose call when you plug it in  . I got the (2) under the cabinet with the tank when I purchased it used. Does anyone else out there run Gen-x pumps? are they always this noisy or are mine possibly just old??? any advice on how to quiet these or a pump that is around 1190gph that is QUIET?? thanks !!!]

[Try to get around all those 90 degree elbows you are using on the skimmer drive pump. That should help.

Did you buy that pump from me? I sold it locally and can't remmember to whom.]

[David, I took the pump apart, cleaned it and replaced it this morning. After a good priming no moore moose call and it is pumping, but it has a high pitched whinning like maybe a bearing?? I bought this from another club member, but you may have sold it to him first..LOL !!]
