I put in 70lbs of lr. Should I tiurn off the skimmer to cycle? Should I start testing now or wait 3 days like in my freshwater tanks?

I went to fishland. This LFS was recommended by marshreef( Houston Society). He had the aqua c remora and tha bak-pak and several other skimmers. He also had a ready made sump with a skimmer and refuge. I asked him about the sump and he told me with a fowlr I didn't need the sump and that the prizm was the easiest to operate. I am really nevrous about this skimmer now. I researched it and all of the reveiws have been good. It was only rated 1/2 a star below the aqua c. I have thought about taking it back but the lfs is 2hrs away. Should I add some type of filter? This skimmer can be used in a sump. Would that help? :?:

thanx, Matt. I know I should have gone with my gut, :roll: Not what I was being told by the so called expert. When I went in there I was all set on getting the stuff for a sump. He made me second guess myself and all I had read. Saltwater is new for me. I guess I will have to chalk this one up to lessons learned.

If it helps I used a Prism for over a year... Get some use out of it and you can always upgrade in the future. Plus turn that thing on! It will need to get broke in so you can get the most out of when your cycle is over.
